The UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People establishes the right of indigenous people to the conservation and protection of the environment of their land and resources, affirming their right to survive as distinct people and the right to restrain national government from undertaking policies that would jeopardize their continued physical or cultural survival. Indigenous people are distinct social and cultural groups that share collective ancestral ties to the lands and natural resources where they live, occupy, or from which they have been displaced. The land and natural resources on which they depend are inextricably linked to their identity, culture, livelihood, and their physical and spiritual well-being. Let’s rally together to champion the cause of indigenous people and safeguard our planet’s future. As delegates of the United Nations Human Rights Council, you hold the responsibility to uphold the principles of inclusivity, equity, and resilience in your pursuit of environmental stewardship. Seize this opportunity to harness the power of collaboration and diplomacy to address the pressing challenges posed by environmental changes .
